Some friends aren’t good at handling the success of others.

Accept this: some people just move on.

Most of my “friends” are no longer a part of my life since I got married and moved away almost two years ago.  To add to the list, I now have a newborn!

Sometimes it’s hard to accept our new circumstances. I ask myself if I’ve done something wrong or is it because I moved to a different state, but I realized that I’ve done everything right.

I’m at a good place in life and I thank God for it.  Some friends aren’t good at handling the success of others, so they walk away feeling that there is no point in keeping the friendship. There may be other reasons, I don’t know. I’m just speaking my mind as I always do, but those were my thoughts. Five years ago, I would’ve never guessed that my group of friends would have taken such a roller coaster ride and that I’d be left with only a couple of faithful loyal friends. Sometimes you just don’t have anything in common anymore,  so the friendship just vanishes little by little.

But that’s the beauty of life. The hidden beauty of friendship.

You never know what’s ahead. I’m able to count my true friends with one hand with a smile on my face. I used to not be able to do that, but today, I can.

I always share my personal experience because I know that there’s always somebody out there going through the same thing I’m going through. Maybe not right now, but at one point, we all go through some of the same challenges.  It may not apply to you today, but it might tomorrow.

Learn how to accept that you may not understand everything people do, but you should understand what’s good for you. Like they say, true friends are hard to find so hold on to the ones you still have and don’t feel as if you cannot make new ones. There is always room for new friends who share the same values as you do and who are on the same level as you. That way, you won’t need to worry so much about competition.  As I grow older, I’m learning truly what friendship is and I realize that some friends were never really friends to begin with.

A true friend, no matter what, knows and understands what is important to you and would stick by you through those significant moments in your life. A true friend also knows when to give you your space, but still be around at the same time. The true friend knows how to be there for you even when you don’t think you need them there. Ah friendship…how I’ve learned so much about you!

My true friend. My husband.
My true friend. My husband.

>When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.- Henri Nouwen

  1. I so agree with you and I read a little phrase somewhere once that has always stuck with me… ” People love you when you are average because it makes them comfortable but when you pursue greatness it makes them uncomfortable so be prepared to lose some people on your journey” Sad but often true!
